In the ninth week of trial, the last four plaintiffs in a recent civil suit against BP have reached a settlement. The suit was regarding the 2005 explosion at the BP refinery in Texas City that killed 15 people and injured several others.
The amount of the settlement was undisclosed. BP earmarked $2.1 billion to handle court costs and settlement expenses for the death and injuries suffered by its employees.
The last trial date for the explosion related litigation has been set for September. Attorneys believe only two cases will go to trial. All other suits have settled before a jury could deliberate. Damages suffered by the employees include lost limbs and post traumatic stress disorder.

A Texas XTO Energy building was evacuated earlier Thursday morning because of some sort of explosion that happened on one of the floors of the building. Police have been investigating the explosion for the past few days and have found that they believe it was caused by some faulty wiring on the sixth floor of the building.
Immediately following the explosion, the building was evacuated and all employees were assembled in front of the building to make sure that no one was hurt in the process of the explosion and evacuation.
Although it was said to be a minor explosion, police and investigators are still taking all precautions to make sure that they know the cause and can fix the problem. They don’t want any other explosions to happen whether they are minor or major. Fort Worth Police have stated that they will inform every one of their findings as soon as the inspection and investigations are completed.
