Business in Dallas Explosion Was a “Vital Cog” in Local Economy

Not only did the explosion that shook the foundation of Dallas recently leave several people injured and cause millions of dollars in damage, but the business affected, Southwest Industrial Gases, was one of the main suppliers of the gas to local welders, which in turn will damage the progress being made within the local construction industry, according to a report published by the Dallas Morning News. “The company, co-owned by the mayor of
Waco, received large drums of acetylene and transferred the
gas to smaller containers for sale to distributors. Local welding supply companies said it was the area’s largest supplier of acetylene, a highly flammable gas used to fuel welding torches.”
“The
Dallas city fire marshal said the city had not inspected the facility in five years. But no evidence could be found of environmental or safety violations at Southwest Industrial.”This just goes to show that unfortunately, explosions can happen almost anywhere at almost any time.
