Fire broke out in Xcel Energy’s King power plant around 5 a.m. at the Oak Park Heights, Minnesota, facility’s coal crushing building on March 17, 2008. The fire caused an explosion in the plant. No one was injured.
So far the cause of the fire has not been found inspite of several inspections. An investigation to find the cause of the fire is underway. The damaged caused as a result of the explosion and fire is being assessed. The shift that left in the previous night did not notice any hot coal.
