Cortech Spray Technologies Company, a chemical plant in Spooner, Wisconsin, caught fire on the morning of Tuesday, March 18th. Cortech makes aerosol products and paint solvents. Cotech has been in Spooner since 1963.
The fire caused explosions in the factory. The flames were bright red and thick, and heavy smoke could be seen from a long distance. Small pieces of ash feel all over the neighboring road.
There were 6 persons working in the plant. Two persons were seriously injured and are in critical condition. One man was badly burned and was buried under 30 feet of concrete rubble in what used to be the Cortech building. He was rescued by the fire fighters.
Fire fighters then backed off as other explosions kept them at bay for the next six hours. Parts of the building walls were starting to tip a bit and have some structural damage. Columns were also damaged. 75 homes were evacuated within a half mile of the plant.
The cause of the explosion is not yet known. To learn more, contact the Texas Explosion Lawyers at Williams Kherkher at 1.800.220.9341.
