On Monday, March 17, 2008, just after midnight, a fire broke out at the Imperial Zinc Corporation in Chicago’s south side. It quickly spread, triggering explosions inside the factory. Because of the size of the fire and the collapse of the roof, firefighters had to battle the blaze from a safe distance. The fire was devastating and flames could be seen from a distance.
The fire department’s HAZMAT crew was also called in to deal with the dangerous chemicals. One worker who was inside the building managed to escape. The fire substantially damaged the plant and building.
The cause of the fire is not known and is being investigated. To learn more, call the Texas Explosion Lawyers at Williams Kherkher at 1.800.220.9341.
