Contractors Behind McKinney Explosion Face Fines

August 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Dallas-  A natural gas utility company and one of its subcontractors was found to be in violation of several codes and is now facing fines from the Texas Railroad Commission.  The investigation was prompted after a gas-related explosion in the suburb of McKinney left one woman dead.

The report cited the energy company for violations in procedures, records, operator qualification, and drug and alcohol testing.  The subcontractor was faulted for shortcomings in damage prevention.

The explosion occurred in May, destroying two homes and sending three people to the hospital.  A coroner’s report ruled that the 71-year old woman who eventually died, died from complicatations related to her burn injuries.
