MICHIGAN - A nuclear power plant in southwestern Michigan had to shut down one of its two units after a small fire was set off.
The fire happened in a non-nuclear section of the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant Saturday night. There was no release of radio active material or any other danger because of the fire.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
According to a spokesman for American Electric Power Co. the fire started in a turbine generator that uses steam to generate electricity.
