Bayer under fire for bad communication

September 12th, 2008 · No Comments

West Virginia - Officials at Bayer CropScience have come under fire for their response during an explosion at the chemical plant last month.  Emergency response teams faced breakdowns in communication as Bayer provided nearly no information about what was happening inside the plant.

Municipal and state officials met with first responders and Bayer CropScience officials to critique the company and county reaction after the explosion.

Meanwhile, Bayer provided nearly no information about what was happening inside the plant, according to emergency responders from throughout the Kanawha Valley.

Responders were angry that Bayer did not provide information sooner.  Firefighters and officers were in areas that may or may not have been safe.  Responders were forced to make decisions based on lack of information, compromising their safety.
